QRS board vacancy being advertised

QRS

The search is underway for a new director to join the board of local contracting company Quality Roading and Services (QRS).

Quality Roading and Services (Wairoa) Ltd is 100% owned by the Wairoa District Council as a Council Controlled Trading Organisation (CCTO) and specialises in roading maintenance and construction.

Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified people who will have had wide commercial experience preferably in a civil contracting environment, governance experience, a high standard of personal integrity and be able to demonstrate a reputation for sound judgement.

The QRS board is currently chaired by Guy Gaddum. Its other directors Fenton Wilson, who has been on the board since 2019, and Tony Gray who has been reappointed as a director of Quality Roading and Services (Wairoa) Ltd for another three-year term.

The vacancy for a fourth director became available after David Proctor resigned last year.

Wairoa Mayor Craig Little praised the previous board and acknowledged the work the directors carry out at a governance level.

“We are very fortunate to have a locally based contracting entity that puts Wairoa and its people first. Cyclone Gabrielle again demonstrated how isolated Wairoa can become and to have locally based accessible specialists right on our doorstep is a huge benefit for our whole district.

“I would like to thank David Proctor for the work he has carried out as a director, and I also acknowledge the previous work of Tony Gray and congratulate him on his reappointment.

“We are fortunate to have a board made up of high calibre members who appreciate Wairoa’s uniqueness. QRS is also about its workforce and again Wairoa benefits from having a locally based skilled team.”
