National recognition of Council’s Corporate Planning

Council’s corporate planning focus is being recognised nationally with the appointment of Dr Kimberley Tuapawa to the Corporate Planning Group of Taituarā - the Society of Local Government Managers. 

 

The appointment puts Wairoa on the corporate planning front for local government and provides the district with a voice on key management issues, as well as connecting Wairoa with the latest long- term planning developments.

 

Dr Tuapawa, Council’s Group Manager of Information and Customer Experience said her appointment allows the work from Council’s corporate planning team to support other Council’s around New Zealand.

 

“Wairoa’s involvement at a national level is testament to the hard work of the staff and elected members involved in the build of its Long Term and Annual Plans.”

 

Taituarā, which represents national interests in local government management, has recognised Wairoa District Council is high achieving in the corporate planning space with its Long-Term Plan pre-engagement delivery being recognised at a national level.

 

Dr Tuapawa represented Wairoa District Council at the recent 2021 Taituarā Long Term Planning Conference presenting on how Council successfully delivered an educate and engagement framework that enabled district-wide engagement on levels of service.

 

Its frameworks were also presented to Councils around New Zealand as a model of excellence.

 

Wairoa District Council chief executive officer Kitea Tipuna said Kimberley’s appointment puts Wairoa at the forefront of corporate planning.

 

“Kimberley’s appointment is also a win for small Councils and demonstrates that with the right resources smaller Councils like Wairoa can foot it at a national level.”

 

Dr Tuapawa said she is very proud the Wairoa District Council’s work has been recognised at a national level adding it is testament to the calibre of talent we have in Wairoa. 

 

“We are a little Council, but we deliver with the best of them.”
