Wairoa is thrilled to be welcoming a record number of new citizens says Wairoa Mayor Craig Little.

So far this year, 16 citizens have been welcomed to the district through Wairoa District Council citizenship ceremonies.

The latest round of new citizens was Vanessa Ruela, Jennifer Rangi, Wendy Kirby, and Leslie Gray.

Mayor Little said new citizens enrich our country and community. “It is a pleasure to officially welcome this group of people to our country as New Zealanders. I know some of our new citizens are already contributing to our community, and I believe Wairoa is very fortunate to have new citizens who can offer so much. New Zealand, and also Wairoa, has a diverse population, and it is a privilege that these new citizens have chosen to join the increasing number of people who want to make Wairoa their home.”

The ceremony includes a pre-recorded Message from Dame Cindy Kiro, The Governor-General of New Zealand, with new citizens swearing oaths and affirmations of allegiance and being presented with a certificate of citizenship.
