Festive celebrations coming up

Mayoral Morning Tea Facebook Tile 2025

Christmas celebrations are just around the corner

First up is the Mayor’s Christmas senior citizens’ morning tea

Scheduled for Wednesday, December 3 at the War Memorial Hall the popular event will start at 10am.

Hosted by His Worship the Mayor, Craig Little, the festive event is for all senior citizens throughout the Wairoa district.

Mayor Little said the morning tea is a great occasion to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of senior citizens within our community.

“The morning tea is an opportunity for social connection and appreciation. This year we want the event to be as inclusive as possible and really hope we will see kaumātua from all reaches of our district.”

Kaumātua festivities will be followed by this year’s Christmas Parade and Market which has a spectacular ‘Music Through the Decades’ theme, where vintage beats, local flair, and plenty of festive cheer will set the main street alive.

Scheduled for Saturday, December 13, this year's theme celebrates all music and how it has evolved over the years.

The community fun day will see a main street market, showcasing local wares and food stalls, from 9am, followed by the Christmas Parade at 2pm.

To register for the float parade or market stall space, please head to Council’s website, www.wairoadc.govt.nz

This year’s Christmas Parade and Market promise a toe-tapping, hip-shaking celebration that will have the whole town humming along – please register your interest now.
