Hikirangi Wairoa

Wairoa Business Symposium

Raupunga, New Zealand — [March 27th and 28th 2026]
Hikirangi Wairoa is proud to host a two-day Rural Business Symposium in Raupunga, created for the business whānau of Kotemaori, Mohaka, Putorino, Raupunga, Tūtira, and Waihua. The symposium provides a solid platform for further engagement and networking to our rural communities that are able to come together, share knowledge, and strengthen local enterprise in ways that reflect lived experience and local aspiration.

Day One will centre on key note speakers, business owners/operators with strong connections to the rohe, who will share their stories and speak openly about what business means to them. These kōrero will highlight the realities of running a business in rural communities—the challenges, the lessons learned, and the values that guide decision-making. This day is about inspiration, honesty, and learning through shared experience rather than theory.

Day Two will focus on showcasing services, skills, and businesses operating across the rohe. This day is designed as an open, interactive environment where local businesses, service providers, and support organisations can demonstrate what they offer, connect directly with external agencies and build practical relationships. It is an opportunity to see what support already exists for locals and how businesses can work together more effectively. Also, Pāhauwera will showcase its tourism opportunities.

Hikirangi Wairoa’s kaupapa is grounded in growing the confidence and capability of local people by opening access to knowledge, resources, and meaningful connections. Hosting the symposium in Raupunga reflects a commitment to meeting rural communities where they are and creating opportunities that are relevant, practical, and locally led with Pāhauwera Trust.

The Hikirangi Rural Business Symposium continues the wider commitment of the Hikirangi Te Rohe o Te Wairoa Business Symposium to ensure rural business voices are heard, supported, and connected—helping shape a strong and sustainable future for business across Wairoa.
