As the sun wanes and we all yield to the onrushing grey and chill of winter months ahead, Bannerman and Littlestone would like to extend the warmest of invitations to a special evening of song and drink and perfectly tuned camaraderie at Hawkes Bay’s most dedicated independent music venue, the newly situated Paisley Stage.
For the uninitiated; Bannerman features the songwriting of Richie Setford, who is back in Aotearoa after a 12 year stint based in Berlin; performing and recording throughout Europe and supporting artists like The Magic Numbers, Shovels & Rope, Tiny Ruins, Anais Mitchell, Marlon Williams, Julia Jacklin, Lawrence Arabia and Margaret Glaspy.
Not long after arriving in Clive, Richie connected with resident musicians Paula Sugden (Cello), Andrew Gladstone (drums) and Campbell Burns (bass) to form the next incarnation of a band who are at the beginning of a new creative cycle; readying material for what will be Bannerman’s first release in 13 years!
Be a part of this event and hear live for the first time, music from the upcoming album How Faint The Tune.
A cultural sea change, the loss of his Father and feelings of impermanence resonate throughout these new songs, 80% of which we’re written after arriving home. Prepare yourself for music that is stirring and affecting, that deals in vulnerability and belonging, exploring myth, nostalgia and isolation.
As an antidote to a fractured and increasingly disconnected society, supporting creative endeavours feels more vital than ever these days, so ladies & gentlemen, please walk with us this night and be part of a new era in the Bannerman journey.
A solo set from local songsmith Mason Blair starts at 7:30pm.
Mason is a Hawkes Bay musician who aims to write and perform music that blends his love of folk, soul, and rock and roll. Writing, composing and producing all of his music himself, he is set to release his debut album this year. Mason is predominantly a solo performing artist, keeping it simple with a guitar and a harmonica, but is currently in the process of building "The Monsoons" to take his live performances to another level. The debut Mason & The Monsoons album, "MIRRORBALL," was released May 15th, 2026.
