Whales, Snails and Lobster Tales

Andrew Penniket, award winning underwater cameraman and documentary maker, will take you to the world beneath the waves talking about Whales, Snails and Lobster Tails. Hosted by the Royal Society, Andrew is giving a public talk about his experiences, from the movements of whales to the hidden lives of smaller coastal creatures, marine reserves, diving in Antarctica, exploring deep caves, filming orca, penguins and sea lions and journeying to the bottom of Milford Sound.

During his career, Andrew has worked for TVNZ’s Natural History Unit, and major international productions for broadcasters including BBC, National Geographic, NHNZ and the Discovery channel.

Trained as a biologist, Andrew combines a deep understanding of marine life with a strong visual storytelling. He is known for capturing close-up behavioural moments - from the night-time activity of lobsters to the coordinated hunting of orca tribes. His work has also supported marine conservation efforts, and he continues to advocate for greater protection of ocean environments.

Andrew recently released a book titled Whales, Snails, and Lobster Tails.

If you have an interest in the ocean, this is a talk not to be missed.

Entry by gold coin donation.
