NZ First List MP Andy Foster got a good feel for Wairoa during a recent visit.
The former Wellington Mayor made a point of catching up with Wairoa District Council elected members and staff.
Top of the agenda was discussions around the Government’s Local Government Reform, with Wairoa Mayor Craig Little stressing the importance of localism and institutional knowledge.
Other key topics included the success of the Council-owned QRS contracting company, the desire to have SH38 recognised and maintained as a State Highway and progress around the Wairoa Flood Mitigation Project.
Mayor Little said Wairoa has been well supported by NZ First, particularly through the Provincial Growth Fund and Kanoa projects.
