A selection of paintings by John Staniford.
John Staniford currently lives in Napier and has a studio open to visitors. He is a full-time artist with more than 60 years’ experience.
Born in the UK in 1947 he came to New Zealand in 1961. John established a screen-printing business in Auckland before becoming a full-time artist. His ‘hard edged’ style is recognisable, and he mixes subjects from landscapes to surreal themes. His work is painted in acrylics and oils.
During the 1960s John studied at the Elam School of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Colin McCahon. His works have been exhibited widely both here and overseas, and sold to buyers in the UK, USA and Europe.
