HBRW 2026 - Fertility Matters

Elisabeth Easther is an actor, journalist and award-winning playwright who has adapted her play, Seed into a novel. Described as “ripe with humour and heart”, it follows four women’s experiences around fertility, life choices and parenthood. She joins top radio journalist, broadcaster and Endometriosis NZ ambassador Susie Ferguson, whose new book Bloody Minded explores Susie’s challenges to build a brilliant career while dealing with a hidden illness. Elisabeth Easther is an actor, journalist, award-winning playwright and book reviewer. Best known for her work on Shortland Street and Islands of the Gulf, she makes her fiction debut with the warm, witty and heartfelt novel Seed.

Susie Ferguson was born in Scotland and is an award-winning journalist and broadcaster in New Zealand. After graduating from The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama and the University of the Arts London, she became a war correspondent, reporting and presenting from around the world - most notably the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. She emigrated to New Zealand in 2009, and for eight years was co-host of Radio NZ's top-rating show, Morning Report. She has also made radio documentaries and podcasts including RNZ's The Unthinkable and Undercurrent: Misinformation in Aotearoa.
Susie now hosts RNZ's Saturday Morning, is an ambassador for Endometriosis NZ, and lives in Wellington with her family.

Kate O’Keeffe is a multi-award winning and USA Today bestselling author known for her fun, feel-good romantic comedies brimming with humor, heart, and happily ever afters. A native of New Zealand, Kate has crafted numerous popular series, garnering a devoted international readership.
