Consultation Notice - Board (T.A.B) Venue Policy

Council is now consulting with the community on the Board (T.A.B) Venue Policy.

Consultation opens Thursday July 30 2026 and Closes 5pm Sunday, 30 August 2026

Wairoa District Council proposes to amend its Board (T.A.B) Venue Policy. The policy is made under the Racing Industry Act 2020 and Racing Act 2003 (the Acts) and allows Council to minimise gambling harm in the community. The policy sets out whether or not venues may be established in their district, where venues may be located in the district and may also place additional limits on venues in line with Council’s powers under the Acts. This then enables Council to consider and determine applications for these types of venues.
