Please stay off saturated reserves

reserve damage

Council is urging people to please keep off saturated reserves and grass areas.

Chief Executive Kitea Tipuna said Council staff and contractors are trying their best to manage the high rainfall and sodden ground. “We are asking members of the community to please not drive on reserves while they are so wet as vehicles are further compounding the damage.

“We have actually been approached by a member of the community asking us to remind people to please stay off the reserves.

“We know this extremely wet weather is hard for everybody, and we are asking for as much support as possible so we can try and look after our district.”

Mr Tipuna said an area at the Mahia Boat Ramp Reserve was an example of where it would be much appreciated if people could stick to the road rather than the sodden grass.

“If we all work together to look after our district’s reserves, it will make for a more efficient and speedier recovery.”
