New streamlined approach to flood related services

PCG Website Banner Community Hub 01

Anyone who needs flood damaged waste disposal, silt removal and septic tank cleaning can now make a request through a new streamlined service.

Wairoa’s Cyclone Gabrielle Recovery Manager Benita Tahuri says over the past few weeks there has been confusion around how these services are managed. “We are now channelling all these requests through the Wairoa District Council Customer Service Requests (CSR) so we can meet people’s needs in the most efficient way possible.

“We want people to be able to access services and resources as easily as possible and by having one place to go to we will be able to provide an improved response.”

Wairoa District Council Customer Service Requests can be made in person, by phone, online or by email so hopefully everyone will have a way to make contact.

Benita said when people do lodge their Customer Service Requests, please provide as much information as you can to describe your issue and if possible, include photos which will help us understand your needs. Please also let us know if you are a rural resident, business or club. The more information you provide will help us to process your request.

“Wairoa is also fortunate to have received over $1 million in funding from the Red Cross to help repair homes in the Wairoa region that have flood damage due to Cyclone Gabrielle.

This fund can be used for septic tank cleaning, reticulation plumbing, reinstatement of home heating, essential electrical repairs and essential bathroom repairs.

“We are really grateful to have received another funding stream to help our whānau. The process to register for this support will be announced soon. Please keep an eye out for upcoming news and updates.”
