Intersection closed for pedestrian crossing repair work

queen road closed

Repairs to the pedestrian crossing on Queen Street, between New World and Chris Joblin Motors, began today (Tuesday, Nov 15).

Wairoa District Council has contracted the repair work to Fulton Hogan with an expectation the project will be completed by next Friday, November 25.

During the time of the work, the road will be closed to through traffic on the intersection of Queen Street and Achilles Street.

Pedestrian access will remain available on both sides of Queen Street and access to New World and Chris Joblin Motors will still be open. All businesses will be operating as normal, but people are advised to please access from the eastern side by following the detour signs which are in place.

Please do not drive through the road closure as there will be wet concrete on the crossing, and it will be excavated in places which may damage your vehicle.

We thank you for your co-operation while these repairs are completed.
