Many of the Wairoa District Council facilities will be closed on Monday 26 September for the one-off public holiday to observe the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Council chief executive, Kitea Tipuna says Monday’s refuse collection at Mahia will continue as normal and the Wairoa i-Site will be open from 10am-4pm.

However, the following facilities will be closed:

  • Council customer services at the Queen Street offices. Phone lines will divert to after hours as per standard public holiday
  • The Wairoa library will be closed
  • The Community Centre will be closed
  • The Wairoa Museum is usually not open on a Monday and will remain closed

Facilities will open again on Tuesday 27 September.

Mr Tipuna thanked everyone for their patience as the country observes the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial public holiday.
