This year’s Wairoa District Council ratepayer and resident survey has a broader coverage than previous surveys and has come in cheaper.

This year’s survey costs $9000 plus gst and has unlimited participants who can complete the survey either online or in hardcopy.

Last year, Council had paid $14,500 plus gst for a phone survey which involved 200 people being contacted.

Wairoa District Council Chief Executive Kitea Tipuna said the new survey has been well received with around 100 people already having completed it. “Council is constantly reviewing its activities and costs, and in this case, it made sense to change the survey approach which gives us the opportunity to hear from more people and at less of a cost.

“While we have a legislative responsibility to conduct an annual survey which feeds into the Annual Report, we also really welcome the opportunity to give our local people another avenue to provide us with their thoughts.”

“While it is a requirement to gather feedback which we use in Council’s Annual Report and Long-Term Plan, we also welcome the opportunity to give our local people another avenue to provide us with their thoughts.”

Mr Tipuna said hearing feedback from local people on what they think about the way Council operates, how we make decisions and what other activities we should be doing is important.

“The results of survey and what we do well, and where we can improve will help guide our future plans.

“It is important we hear open and honest feedback around what our community thinks as that will help us to deliver the best possible facilities and services across our district.”

The survey is designed to take 5-10 minutes to complete and is open to everyone, other than elected or staff members of the Wairoa District Council and their household members.
