New recycling times for Ruakituri and Te Reinga

Infographic recycling

New times have been allocated for the free recycling collection at Ruakituri and Te Reinga.

Smart Environmental will be in the area on the second Sunday of every month opposite the school at Ruakituri from 2-2.30pm and at Te Reinga opposite the old school from 3-3.15pm.

The recycling is picked up from the parking area across from each school location with the recycling truck only in the area for the set period of time.

People wanting to drop their recycling off will need to be at the locations within the timeframe so their recycling can go directly into the recycling truck.

Recycling is free for all domestic users with the following accepted:

  • Cans - Rinsed aluminium and steel cans
  • Glass - Clean bottles and jars (remove the lids and rinse, no window glass, lightbulbs, glassware or mirrors)
  • Paper - Newspaper, magazines, junk mail, all other clean paper
  • Cardboard - Flatten all boxes (not milk cartons, drink cartons or tetrapaks)
  • Plastics - Types 1, 2 & 5 rigid plastics (e.g. water and milk bottles, ice cream containers). Not accepted: types 3, 4, 6 & 7 (e.g. pipes, film, plastic cutlery, appliance parts).
