Calling all film buffs

2021 09 21

If you love movies and helping the community then becoming a Gaiety Theatre volunteer is the perfect opportunity for you.

The Gaiety is Wairoa’s entertainment hub with a range of new release screenings and good old-fashioned movie classics as well as being a venue for visiting shows.

The success of the theatre is dependent on the support of our community and with help from a team of volunteers going towards keeping operating costs at a manageable level.

Generally, volunteers arrive around half an hour prior to a movie screening, assist in the box office with popcorn making and food and beverage sales and help with the clean-up.

Bonuses include watching the movie free of charge and free popcorn.

Being a Gaiety volunteer is a great way to help and give something back to the district as well as a fun way to be involved in the world of film and entertainment.

Anyone who is keen to find out more about being a volunteer should complete the volunteer form online, head to gaietytheatre.co.nz or call into the theatre during opening hours.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for a movie evening, checkout the crime/drama ‘Stillwater’, starring Matt Damon, which will screen on Wednesday, September 22 at 8pm.

Other movies to watch out for include ‘Respect’ the Aretha Franklin Rhythm and Blues movie starring Jennifer Hudson which screens on Thursday, September 23.

There is also a great range of movies coming up for the school holidays including Boss Baby: Family Business, Paw Patrol The Movie and Anibo: Amazon Princess.

The new James Bond movie, No Time to Die is set to screen on October 7.

To keep up to date with what movies are showing, sign up to the Gaiety’s newsletter on the theatre’s website, and receive a weekly movie schedule with showtimes.
