Business Boost coming to Wairoa

The Kiwi Business Boost is coming to Wairoa next month.

Vision Projects and the Wairoa District Council are helping business.govt.nz, part of the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment, to run the first Kiwi Business Boost in Wairoa from November 11-21.

The pilot will include 52 free workshops and other business support events in Wairoa, Napier, Hastings and Waipawa. It will also feature an all-new online platform, tailoring guidance to the individual needs of small businesses.

There are over 60 partners supporting the pilot, including Inland Revenue, Xero, MYOB, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Farmlands, Hawke’s Bay Business Hub, PopUp Business School, ACC and many more.

Head of business.govt.nz Matt Kennedy-Good says that “the Kiwi Business Boost is all about coming together to help Kiwi businesses.”

“Small businesses have told us they want more tailored support focused on growth, productivity, compliance and sustainability. We are now piloting a new way of helping small businesses with these challenges.”

The Boost will launch in Wairoa on November 8 at an event with the Minister for Small Businesses and local MP Stuart Nash and local business leaders and small businesses.

The Boost will help businesses in areas which they have identified as their biggest challenges with one on one expert sessions covering the following subjects:

• Getting started: Registering, planning, naming, research, structure, funding.
• Growth: Sales, marketing, grants, exporting, accessing finance, using digital technology
• Risks and operations: Health and safety, intellectual property, insurance, privacy
• Tax and accounting: Cash flow, tax and accounting, understanding financials
• Staff: Hiring and retaining employees, leave, holidays, management, leadership.
• Sustainability and wellbeing: Environmental sustainability, mental health.

Businesses will be able to register for events now at at https://boost.business.govt.nz/.
