Power boxes around Wairoa will be transformed this week in an initiative to clean-up graffiti around the community.
A joint project between Wairoa District Council and Eastland Network will see graffiti-covered electricity transformer boxes given a spruce up.

There were about 20 boxes in total that Eastland Network contractors were hoping to spruce-up yesterday.
One of the first transformer boxes to get a fresh new coat of paint yesterday was one just outside the old Write Price building on Queen Street
Council chief executive Steven May hopes this initiative can be part of the "Pride in Wairoa" campaign, to beautify our district.
“We absolutely appreciate the support we are getting from Eastland Network to undertake this initiative,” Mr May says.
“This highlights how Council can work together with businesses and stakeholders from outside our district to develop and beautify our town.

“Collaborating with local and region-wide groups is a mission this Council and I are passionate about.
“Again, I would like to acknowledge Eastland Network for supporting this initiative to beautify our place.”
Eastland Network general manager Brent Stewart says “the Eastland Network team is delighted to partner up with Mr May and the Wairoa District Council for this initiative.
“It all helps to showcase this beautiful part of the world.”
