A community-driven main street spruce-up will see Marine Parade gleaming.
Council, Wairoa Young Achievers Trust and local businesses are banding together to banish cobwebs and grime from Marine Parade and make the main street shine.
The spruce-up will take place on Monday 8 December, and begin with a gathering at 2pm at the Wairoa isite. For those who want to join in there will be cleaning products available.
Wairoa District Council elected member and Chair of the Environment and Economic Development Committee, Roz Thomas, said the tidy-up is something the Council, businesses and community have wanted to do for ages.
"Our main street is a beautiful location overlooking the river, and it deserves a good tidy up," Councillor Thomas said.
"This is a community initiative, supported by the Council, and we hope business owners, staff and supporters join us to put the sparkle back in our main shopping area.
"The main street is the heart of our district, and whether it's window washing, cobweb blasting or grime scrubbing - we encourage helpers to bring along their buckets and get stuck in."
Mrs Thomas says it is also ideal to complete the cleanup before the Christmas market and parade on Saturday 13 December.
The initiative is led by Wairoa Young Achievers Trust and supported by Wairoa District Council, Tahuri Mai Trust, The Wairoa Business Hub and Adara.
