Whether it’s the dip into spring adult reading challenge, the after-school programme or digital hub activities – there is something for everyone at the Wairoa library.
The library is proud to offer a collection of approximately 18,000 books available for borrowing, along with a range of e-books and audio and visual materials.
Wairoa District Council Chief Executive Matt Lawson said the library service is supported by a loyal local library community that appreciates the difference library resources can make to people’s lives.
“Other than the library’s bestseller collection, which comprises around 30 books, all other library resources are available for borrowing at no cost. The library still operates a model for overdue library books, focused on keeping books in circulation so everyone in the community can enjoy them.
“Wairoa has a small population and a limited new book budget. We cannot afford to replace all books that are not returned, and late fees encourage borrowers to return books on time to ensure as many books as possible are available for our community. We appreciate that the majority of library users return their books within the required timeframe or arrange a renewal.”
