Locals dug deep at today’s community planting day along the river-bounded Sir James Carroll Walkway.
Around 70 native plants were planted as part of Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week. The planting was led by the Wairoa Community Ngahere Nursery with support from Enviroschools.
Organisers extended a big thank you to the volunteers who helped out, including the Wairoa Playcentre mums and kids. They also thanked the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, Wairoa District Council and NZ Police for their ongoing support.
