New January date for Mahia FAWC event

2021 11 04a FAWC

Wairoa’s sold out Mahia-based FAWC event has had a new date set.

The November event was postponed until next year due to uncertainty and risks associated with the Delta variant of Covid-19.

The Hawke’s Bay FAWC (Food and Wine Classic) event is now scheduled to run from January 28 – February 6, 2022 with the Wairoa Kaiuku Marae, Mahia event scheduled for January 30.

Tickets to the Wairoa event sold out in just 48 hours. The rescheduled event will still feature pioneering restaurateur Fleur Sullivan of Fleur’s Place and her talented, up-and coming chef Lyall Minhinnick who was recently one of three finalists nationwide in the Beef and Lamb’s Young Ambassador Competition.

The cuisine will focus on a range of kaimoana and beef-inspired dishes.

Wairoa District Council chief executive officer Kitea Tipuna said while the reschedule is disappointing the decision has been made based on safety of our guests, our industries and our local communities.

Ticket holders can opt for a refund or have their tickets transferred to the new date.
