Warioa Police recurits Rose Campbell and Amiria Te Amo Michell 20190817 121436 preview

A Police reunion in Wellington resulted in a chance meet up with two of Wairoa’s newest Police recruits for Wairoa District Council chief executive Steven May.

Mr May attended the Royal New Zealand Police College 30-year anniversary commemorating officers who had all joined the Police in 1989.

One of their weekend activities was to visit the New Zealand Police College where he met locals Amiria Te Amo-Mitchell and Rose Campbell who are currently working through their 16-week Police College recruit course.

“It was great to meet the two recruits. They are both halfway through their training and once they graduate Amiria will be posted to Wairoa and Rose to Hawke’s Bay.

Mr May said it is great to see locals taking advantage of the local Police recruitment drive.

“I understand around six Wairoa people are, or intending to be, part of the local training scheme which is a great result for our district.
