Mr May said a debrief following these events provided a lot of insight into how to ensure future events are run even better.

He said the Friends of the Gaiety – Volunteer Group is a great support, with the younger members especially excited to be helping out at the theatre.

“The support from the Friends of the Gaiety is amazing and their input and feedback helps the Gaiety team to ensure it can offer a high standard of customer service and develop our service to target our customer even better.

“The Gaiety team leader Annalena Atzwanger is currently working on creating a Friends of the Gaiety strategy to enable an increase in volunteer numbers and satisfaction.”

Meanwhile, Gaiety Operations Officer Mikel O’Connell has resigned from his position and finishes up next month.

The position is currently being advertised.

Work with movie distributors is also having benefits with the Wairoa community now likely to get more first releases and even having one advanced screening.
