Jan and I working around the garden today, normally I can make an excuse, like I'm needed in town, but of course I can't do that now! I have heard of cases of people not adhering to Self Isolation, which is just plain dumb and selfish.
Rang the RSA President Dinty Little, whom is also my uncle, re what does Anzac day look like, unfortunately there won't be an Anzac Day Commemoration like we know, this doesn't stop us, remembering our fallen, past and present Heroes, we might look at live streaming, say the Flag being raised and hopefully getting our local legend Bobby Tipuna playing the Bugle, as an example.
For me Anzac day is a reminder about protecting our Kaumatua and Kuia (the Elderly), whom are most vulnerable in these troubled times.
The CE and myself have made the call, we won't be leaving the District for meetings, but will call in via Phone/Skype.
Tomorrow we have calls to all the Mayors and the Chairman of HBRC, as well as our DHB Chair, then we have another Conference call into a Civil Defence meeting.
One thing we all know for certain is, this is a changing world, but we must keep our sanity and sometimes a sense of humour can help!
Remember wash your hands for 20 seconds, don't touch your face (easier said than done) and keep your distance from other people, no handshakes, just the Kahungunu wave!
Ngā mihi Craig
