Glitch at the Gaiety

gaiety theatre web

Technical issues have caused a brief closure of Wairoa’s Gaiety Theatre.

Problems began last Thursday with screenings cancelled and the theatre temporarily closed.

A replacement part has now been located and ordered from Melbourne, Australia, has landed in New Zealand, and is currently in transit to Wairoa.

Wairoa District Council Chief Executive Kitea Tipuna thanked movie goers for their patience while the theatre is closed.

“We have been very fortunate to be able to source a replacement part and hope to have the theatre back up and running as soon as possible.

“I know it has been an inconvenience, especially as there are some great movies on at the moment.  We look forward to being able to show popular films such as Top Gun:Maverick, Elvis and Whina in the coming days.”
