Report deliberate damage to our district

2022 04 05b

If you see anyone vandalising or damaging our district, please let us know.

That is the cry from the Wairoa District Council staff who are full on cleaning up from the recent weather event and really don’t need any additional work.

Wairoa District Council Chief Executive Kitea Tipuna said vandalism, such as driving and doing wheelies on reserves is a massive cost to ratepayers and a waste of Council staff time.

“Our focus is currently on restoring our district. There are a lot of people, especially those who live out of town, who have really suffered from this rain event. I encourage everyone to pleas think of others and respect our district.

“To all those people who are the eyes and ears of Wairoa, if you are out and about and notice anything that needs to be reported, fixed or maintained, please don’t hesitate to call the Council on 06 838 7309 or https://www.wairoadc.govt.nz/contact-us/fault-repair/ to report the issue so Council can attend to it.

“If you see a vehicle doing wheelies, grab a photo, take down the registration number and phone the Police.

“It is important we all look after our community and are able to put our focus where it is needed the most.”
