Road safety billboards

Billboard road safety messaging is popping up around the district

To promote safer driving the Wairoa District Council has partnered with Roadsafe Hawke’s Bay to install the billboards on local rural roads.

Messages are based around slowing down and driving sober with the billboards installed in time for the summer break when Wairoa experiences its high-volume traffic season.

Billboards have gone up on the Tiniroto Road and the Nuhaka-Opoutama Road, Kaiwaitau and Mohaka Township roads will hopefully be up by the end of the week.

The billboards target local/rural road risks with clear instructional messaging to help drivers keep those risks in mind when driving.

Wairoa District Council interim chief executive Kitea Tipuna said Council’s road safe inputs supports the national strategy of protecting people from transport related injuries.

“Wairoa has a big roading network and we want to keep our whanau and visitors safe when they are driving on our roads.”

“These driver safety message billboards are just one way of reminding people to drive safely.
