A cracker of a Christmas market

Wairoa’s Christmas Market day is shaping up to be a cracker with stall spots filling up fast.

Marine Parade will be a hub of Christmas activity with retail specials and market stalls lined up and down the street!

The market is set for next Saturday, December 12, with a whole lot of Christmas fun planned.

The Farmers Market will relocate for the morning to join in the festivities – including servings of the ‘World Famous in Wairoa’ pancakes.

Cottage industries, homemade Christmas goodies, flowers, festive food and produce and products from fundraising groups, candy floss, beautiful soaps and bath bombs, biscuits, cupcakes, strawberries, plants and balms and plenty more Christmas Treats will all line the street!

Music, spot prizes and face painting are all planned with Father Christmas himself expected to make a visit.

All retailers, whether they are located on Marine Parade or not, are encouraged to join the party and either bring a stall on to Marine Parade or offer some super specials on that day.

Wairoa's volunteer fire brigade will be on the Library Green with a fire truck for children and adults to get up and close to with an opportunity to try some of the gear and equipment.

A super charged shop local and win competition is carrying a top prize of $500 worth of local shopping vouchers to be won. There are also 10 x $100 shop and win vouchers to win.

Any purchase over $5 from any retailer in Wairoa on Saturday, December 12 is eligible! Just write your name and contact phone number on the back of your receipt and drop it into the giant present which will be located outside Bradbury Jewellers.

The Gaiety Theatre is having a stall with movie merchandise perfect for stocking stuffers. Plus, if you are keen to become involved with the movie theatre have a chat about becoming a Gaiety volunteer.

The Christmas Street party is hosted by Upstream Wairoa and the Wairoa District Council and aims to bring a wave of festive spirit to town while giving people a chance to do some local Christmas shopping.

There are a few stall spaces left and spaces for gazebos. There is no charge to have a space, but stallholders do need to register their stall so they can be allocated a space. Service providers who want to join in and offer other activities during the party, and those wanting stall space should, contact Alex on 021 856 800 or alex@visionprojects.co.nz.

Mark Saturday, December 12, on your calendar and get ready to party Wairoa style.
