Top achievement for HR officer

Donna Moorcock2

An intensive study programme has paid off for Council’s human resources officer Donna Moorcock.

Ms Moorcock has completed an Accelerated Leadership Performance Programme, gaining a grade of more than 80 percent to pass the certificate.

The high achiever was also awarded a national Woman and Leadership New Zealand study scholarship for $4000 to complete the course.

The 18-week course started last October and included a combination of online work and study, face to face sessions and webinars.

Only 10 participants are selected for the course and only a few scholarships allocated.

Ms Moorcock is appreciative of the opportunity Council provided for her to complete the programme saying it was hugely beneficial and she has been able to utilise skills she learned within her work.

The course is focussed on enhanced and effective leadership and is about turning managers into confident, self-directed leaders.

Ms Moorcock is originally from Central Hawkes Bay and joined the Wairoa District Council as the human resources advisor in 2018.

Council Group manager of Information and Customer Service Kimberley Tuapawa said Council is pleased to see that this leadership milestone has been reached.

“From a former Head of School perspective, it’s always great to see students who complete a programme of learning and are able to use it for both personal and career development.

Council chief executive Steven May congratulated Donna on her achievement.

“I am pleased to provide opportunities for staff development so they can reach their full potential and increase our service to the community.

“Donna’s work is a prime example of what can be achieved through hard work and commitment.”
