Background:
The TDP was established in May 2000 as part of the Government’s Regional Economic Development strategy. The TDP provides a forum for co-operative and collective activity between the various sectors and communities in Tairāwhiti to promote and enhance the economic, cultural, environmental and social development of the region.
The TDP sees its role as a catalyst and facilitator of projects and since its inception it has initiated, coordinated, sponsored and advocated for a number of initiatives, programmes and developments that have occurred within the Tairāwhiti Region over the past 5 years. (See Achievements Register).
The membership of the Tairāwhiti Development Partnership consists of:

The TDP has passed a motion to establish the Partnership as a legal entity (Charitable Trust) and the Coordination group is meeting 3 March 2006 to consider the operational implications for the ongoing Partnership.
