Portland Island Lighthouse, Wairoa, New Zealand
Built of solid kauri it stood sentinel from 1877 to 1950’s on Portland Island, Mahia Peninsula. It was relocated to the Wairoa township in 1961 and is now the town’s dominant feature. |

Situated on the southeastern boundary of Te Urewera National Park, 67km northwest of Wairoa. Surrounded by an untouched wilderness of native forest flora and fauna. Famous for fresh water trout fishing and nature walks. |
