Roading and Footpaths

Please note that the Engineering Code of Practice is currently being modified.  Once modifications are complete, it will be available online.

The long-term focus
for Roading is to meet the community’s needs for safe and efficient movement of people and goods by maintaining and developing the District road network.   It is intended to maintain the current network at “present day” average or better.

Road safety
will continue to be a priority, as will consideration of the community’s willingness to pay for better roads.

Council will continue to be involved in the delivery of roads and related infrastructure through the provision of capital development and maintenance of the established network.

All day-to-day maintenance and operational activities will continue to be provided by private sector contractors.

For more information relating to Roading and Footpaths, you can contact Bill Lewis at Wairoa District Council on (06) 838 7309.
