Annual Review of Drinking Water Quality in NZ 2008/09: This annual report on New Zealand’s drinking-water quality spans the period July 2008 to June 2009 and covers the second year of reporting by financial year rather than calendar year. This is also the third year for which the Drinking-Water Standards for New Zealand: 2005 (DWS 2005) could be used to assess the microbiological and chemical quality of drinking-water. However, as the transition from the Drinking-Water Standards for New Zealand: 2000 (DWS 2000) to the DWS 2005 is scheduled to take several years and drinking-water suppliers may elect which of these they are to operate under, compliance is assessed against the standard which the supplier has chosen to comply with.
